Research interests:

I am active in research on the epidemiology and mitigation of infectious diseases. Specifically, I am working intensely on programs to eradicate dengue fever after completing an extraordinarily successful intervention trial in Indonesia. I am also a statistician on an ongoing Ebola Virus Disease vaccine trial in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and on HIV viral suppression interventions in Tanzania. Of course, I have now been involved in various COVID-19 epidemiological studies and have commented on aspects of the epidemic for The New York Times. I have an active research program in statistics associated with Human Rights, including civilian casualty assessments during conflicts and the killing of unarmed individuals by US police agencies. I am often a statistical Expert Witness for health-related litigation issues including COVID-19, the opioid epidemic, in vitro fertilization, and California wildfires. I have developed teaching programs for new health data science programs.
