In early 2021, a group of emeriti(ae) headed by Dr. Amy Block Joy and Dr. Michael Austin began an Academy project to help undergraduates make the important decision of choosing their college major at UC Berkeley. They began with the idea that it would be helpful for students to see how this decision was made by Berkeley faculty members. Initially, the Choosing My Major project focused on inviting faculty to create a 3-minute video telling their personal story of how they chose their undergraduate major. After collecting their initial faculty videos, they expanded the project in Fall 2021 to include student-created stories and videos, through the Undergraduate Research Apprentice Program (URAP).
