"Demystifying Office Hours" Interactive Workshop

Demystify Office Hours Panel Discussion and Workshop for Undergraduate Students Fall 2024

“You should go to professors’ office hours.”  Students hear that advice a lot.  But many students:

  • feel intimidated by the thought of visiting their professors in their offices;

  • are unclear about what office hours are for anyway;

  • feel like they don’t really know what to say once they get there;

  • have worked up the courage and then discovered that their professor’s office hours sign-up sheet is already full.

Each workshop will provide:

  • Tips on how to best use office hours
  • Tailored advice from faculty panelists in small break-out groups
  • Option to sign up for individual 1:1 coaching after the event

In this low-stress, low-stakes setting, students can discuss their issues with professors who want to help them thrive at UC Berkeley.
